Halcyon 2

Rebuild of Halcyon 1959 “Nevins 40” Centerboard Yawl

Designed by: Olin Stephens

Built by:  H.B. Nevins Boatyard, City Island, NY.

Halcyon is a Nevins 40 that was recently acquired by Gannon and Benjamin. There were 13 Nevins 40s built to Olin Stephens design (#1068) between 1955 and 1960 by the H.B. Nevins Yard on City Island, NY. Halcyon has cruised the New England coast for years, most recently out of Edgartown, MA, and has just been moved into our yard.
She is in relatively good condition with her original fittings and interior. With her fine pedigree and sea-kindly design, we are looking for the right person to work with in the full restoration of Halcyon.

We, at Gannon and Benjamin, Inc., are excited about the Halcyon rebuild project.  Halcyon was passed on to us by a family with fond memories of sailing the Eastern Seaboard together, and who wish to see her return to an owner who will sail her, and take good care of her. As part of this project we pass the boat herself on, being pleased to be part of her restoration and evolution back to the sea. Please inquire about purchasing this Nevins 40, and feel free to see her in person at our annex location across the street from our Beach Rd shop. 01/09/14  Halcyon restoration update: We have charfed in the new frame ends to meet the fore keel, and have begun installing floor timbers made of Angelique. We are bolting everything together with bronze bolts and fasteners and will be sistering the existing frames; steam bending in white oak sister frames.

‘Halcyon’ has new coamings and toe rails, a new deck, and all varnish has been stripped and refinished. After rebuilding the hull last winter, with the exception of deck paint, she is also freshly painted.

Gannon and Benjamin is actively looking for her new owner.  All inquiries can be made by phone at (508) 693-4658 or by email to: GandB@GannonAndBenjamin.com
